On Friday, September 18, my company, ACI and Squire Patton Boggs ( Frank Samolis, Esq) and Afrique Today Digital TV, (a two-time quality-service award winner) hosted a high- level Pro-Africa USA TIED Forum (Trade, investment and economic development. It is the first in a series of high-level events on Afrocosmo mutual voices, shared knowledge and dialogue on substantive, innovative and practical solutions to current and emerging trade, investment and economic development issues in Africa and beyond.
The Objective of the event was to discuss the question:
What are substantive, practical and creative measures to target and support survivalist & opportunist female owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The measures include incentivization, formalization and productivity issues within the framework of COVID19 and the 2019 Africa Continental Free Trade Area? The event focused on small medium enterprises in the food supply chain partly because COVID19 has undermined exportation of food supplies to African nations and has worsened the plight of survivalist SMEs, particularly those in the food supply chain.
